The Independent Cinema Office directory includes Northern Ireland. Queen's Film Theatrepublishes its Belfast programme and access details, while national operators list their own Northern Ireland cinemas where applicable.

Some cinemas provide subtitled or captioned screenings, audio description, relaxed or autism-friendly screenings and wheelchair spaces. Availability and format vary by film, date, venue and auditorium.

• Use the cinema's accessibility filters, but confirm the symbols and screening details before booking.
• Ask about step-free routes, wheelchair spaces, accessible toilets, hearing support and assistance dogs.
• For audio description, ask whether a headset is supplied and whether it needs to be reserved.
• For relaxed or autism-friendly screenings, read what changes to sound, lighting, movement and trailers are planned.
• AccessAble publishes detailed access guides for many UK cinemas and leisure venues.

The CEA Card is the UK Cinema Association's scheme. At participating cinemas, it can provide a complimentary ticket for someone accompanying a disabled cinema guest who needs support. Eligibility, application evidence, the current fee, participating cinemas and terms are set by the scheme.

Not every cinema or booking is covered. Check the current CEA Card terms and the cinema's own booking process before paying. Some venues run a different companion arrangement.

The British Board of Film Classification publishes UK age ratings and content advice. Check the classification for the film and the cinema's admission policy. Staff may ask for proof of age, and adults cannot take a child into a film restricted above the child's age.

• Check the cinema, date, start time, film format, seat, fees and access information before paying.
• Read the seller's change and refund terms. A refund is not automatic if you change your mind.
• If a screening is cancelled or materially changed, contact the seller named on the booking and keep its response.
• Complain to the cinema or ticket seller first, in writing where possible, and include the booking details and outcome wanted.
