Privacy Policy
This notice explains how Sixpence Support UK ("we", "us", "our") collects and uses personal information when you use this website (sixpencesupportuk.org) and our support services. Last updated: 18 July 2026.
Who we are
Sixpence Support UK is a small, independent UK-based support-information project. We do not publish invented company or charity registration numbers. If you would like a postal address or a named data-protection contact, please write to us at help@sixpencesupportuk.org and we will provide it directly.
For the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Sixpence Support UK is the "controller" of the personal information described below.
What information we collect
We only collect information that you actively give us, or that is needed to run the site. Specifically:
- Contact form (/contact): your name, email address, chosen topic and the content of your message.
- Free Letter Support Service (/letter-support): your name, contact details, any letter or document you upload, and the notes you provide about what help you need. Uploaded documents may contain sensitive personal information (for example health, benefits or legal matters); we treat these with particular care.
- AI assistants (/assistants): the messages you type into the Letter Writer, Benefits & Forms Helper, Health Info Guide and Translator. These messages are sent to a third-party AI provider through the Lovable AI Gateway so that a response can be generated. Please do not paste bank details, passwords, full National Insurance numbers or other highly sensitive identifiers into the assistants.
- Technical information: standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) generated automatically when you visit the site.
We do not currently run third-party marketing analytics, advertising trackers or social-media pixels on this site. If that changes in the future, we will update this notice first.
Cookies
This website does not set marketing or advertising cookies. A small number of strictly necessary cookies or similar browser storage may be used to keep the site working correctly (for example, to remember that you are signed in to send a message, or to keep your place in a form). These do not require your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Donations
We do not currently take card payments through this website. Where a donation page links out to a third-party payment provider (for example a fundraising platform), that provider is a separate data controller and will have its own privacy notice. We only receive the information that the provider chooses to share with us, which is usually limited to the amount donated and, if you choose, your name and message.
How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry or provide the support you have asked for.
- To translate, summarise or help draft letters where you have asked us to.
- To keep the website secure and to prevent abuse.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are: consent (when you send us a message or upload a document), legitimate interests (running and securing the site), and legal obligation where applicable. Where uploaded material contains special category data (for example health information), we rely on your explicit consent.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Our hosting and database provider, which stores contact-form submissions and uploaded letters on our behalf in the UK/EU region.
- The AI provider that powers the assistants, via the Lovable AI Gateway, purely to generate the response you asked for.
- Regulators, law-enforcement or the courts, if we are legally required to.
These providers act as our processors and are bound by written terms that require them to protect your information.
How long we keep it
We keep contact-form messages and letter-support uploads only for as long as we reasonably need to help you, and then delete them. AI assistant conversations are not saved to a personal profile on this site; the underlying provider may retain short-term logs for abuse prevention in line with its own policy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to or restrict certain uses;
- withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email help@sixpencesupportuk.org. If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page will always reflect the most recent version.
